Urban Paradise Guild – El Portal Chapter
Dear Neighbors:
Now that the weather will be cooler, the Urban Paradise Guild El Portal Chapter will begin our monthly meetings. Our next event is set for September 25, 2011 from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM and we will be transporting some of our plants from our local El Portal home nursery’s to our UPG Partner nursery at the Montgomery Botanical Center located at 11901 Old Cutler Road. Volunteers will get a behind the scenes visit to the Montgomery Botanical Center. Montgomery began life in the mid 1920’s as the home of Colonel Montgomery, an botany enthusiast and collector. It is now operated by a private Foundation. David Fairchild worked at Montgomery, and the Foundation played a pivotal role in the creation of Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens. Families/kids/seniors are welcome! (We can work out carpools for those without transportation.)
