Charles Winters is an esteemed member of the El Portal community and a lifelong Miami resident. He has called El Portal home since 2013, drawn by its unique charm and the strong sense of community that defines the village.

Charles is the founder of Miami String Haus, a successful orchestra business established in 2014, and is a passionate advocate for arts education and youth development. As a former music teacher at Miami Country Day School, he created unique learning opportunities for his students, including a memorable collaboration with musical legend Phil Collins.

Charles earned his bachelor’s degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2007. He also attended Florida International University, maintaining a 4.0 GPA while balancing his growing business and dedication to his family. These experiences shaped his leadership approach and reinforced his commitment to service.

Charles has demonstrated his deep commitment to the community through acts of service and generosity. This includes a substantial donation of instruments to Horace Mann Middle School, revitalizing its orchestra program and inspiring young musicians. Charles approaches his role as councilman as being a neighbor first, with compassion and selflessness, always striving to uplift and support those around him.

As a councilperson, Charles is dedicated to thoroughly understanding the needs of El Portal residents. Before casting any vote, he makes every effort to visit the properties and speak with the owners to fully immerse himself in their concerns and perspectives. In cases where owners are unavailable or do not respond, Charles continues to rely on thorough research and community input to ensure he is informed about the matters at hand. Guided by a hands-on approach and a deep sense of responsibility, Charles ensures that every decision he makes reflects the best interests of the community he proudly serves.

With a love for El Portal’s natural beauty and rich heritage, Charles is committed to preserving the village’s character while fostering a united, thriving community. Guided by the belief that service to others is the cornerstone of leadership, he approaches his role on the council with humility, transparency, and a dedication to the well-being of all residents.

Charles lives in El Portal with his wife, Katrina, and their daughter, Snow. He is honored to represent his neighbors and work toward ensuring a bright and sustainable future for the village he loves.
