Councilperson Darian Martin

Councilperson Darian Martin

Mrs. Darian Martin is an attorney and former public administrator currently serving her first term as Councilwoman in the Village of El Portal. Though this is her first time holding an elected office, Darian is no stranger to government. She has held both legal and administrative positions with various cities in Miami Dade County. Significant achievements during her tenure in these positions include helping obtain approval of a $60 million general obligation bond, conceptualizing and implementing numerous innovative community programs and enhancing the performance of various city departments.

As an immigrant, first-generation college graduate, and Black woman, she is passionate about issues involving equity and access.

Darian holds a law degree from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in Public Administration from Florida International University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. She is also an alumnus of The Miami Foundation’s Miami Fellows Program (Class VIII). When not passionately advocating for the Villagers of El Portal, Darian enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.
